As part of the growing Renewables Sector, you’d be working for a small (c.40 people) and dynamic design and manufacturing company with a flat structure; enabling you to have real influence on the direction of their product portfolio. As the company continues to grow, there’s also significant opportunity to broaden the role scope and for the role to develop into a leadership position in time.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Control Systems Engineer who can enhance the existing engineering team, lead the development of the control systems for an innovative range of products, whilst maintaining the highest standards of product safety. They will have a key role in the company working both on new product development and support for existing products, with the opportunity to be involved in the full product life cycle.

This role is based at their main office in Fife and may involve occasional travel to installations and suppliers in the UK and abroad. Hybrid working is available, with 2 days WFH a week, which would make it easier for someone to be based from Edinburgh or surrounding areas.

The Role:

  • Control system design and implementation
  • Development, testing and verification of PLC and HMI software including safety related software
  • Research and development of new features and concepts for a range of electrically driven, motion compensated offshore hoists
  • Engaging with suppliers of existing or new components for the Company's products
  • Explore ways to cost reduce systems through alternative component sourcing or architecture redesign
  • Contribute to new product features and overall concept development
  • OT security solution design and implementation
  • Software documentation authoring and review
  • Technical report writing
  • Leading or supporting testing and commissioning of systems
  • Participating in Design Reviews.

The Person

  • Experience with Siemens PLC programming (TIA Portal)
  • A minimum of five years in a similar, highly technical role
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline to BSc level or above
  • Knowledge of essential documentation for the PLM (SDS< FDS, IO lists etc.)
  • Knowledge of fail-safe control system design
  • Knowledge of functional safety requirements under ISO 13849
  • Skilled in reading electrical diagrams
  • Networking knowledge (ProfiNET, Modbus TCP, SNMP, etc)
  • Excellent communication skills
