Job Title: Landscape Construction Estimator
Position Overview
The Landscape Construction Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, competitive bids for new construction landscaping projects by combining field knowledge, plan interpretation, and other company software usage. This role requires both office-based estimating and field involvement, including jobsite visits to assess scope, verify conditions, and ensure bid accuracy.
The ideal candidate has hands-on landscaping construction experience, understands how work is performed in the field, and can translate that knowledge into precise estimates and well-structured proposals. This role plays a critical part in driving profitable revenue by ensuring projects are bid correctly.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Bid Development
- Review plans, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate scopes of work (SOW)
- Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Build detailed and competitive estimates aligned with company pricing and margin targets
- Identify potential risks, gaps, or scope inconsistencies within project documents
- Prepare and submit professional proposals and bid packages
Field Verification & Jobsite Involvement
- Visit jobsites to assess existing conditions, access, logistics, and project constraints
- Verify scope details that may not be fully captured in plans or specifications
- Collaborate with field and estimating teams to ensure estimates reflect real-world production conditions
- Use field experience to improve accuracy, efficiency, and profitability of bids
CRM & Pipeline Management
- Track all bids, updates, and communications within CRM (Zoho)
- Maintain accurate deal records, including bid amounts, timelines, and statuses
- Coordinate with inside and outside sales teams on follow-ups and bid strategy
- Ensure all opportunities are properly documented and progressing through the pipeline
- Support forecasting by maintaining clean and current pipeline data
Client & Internal Coordination
- Communicate with general contractors, builders, and clients to clarify scope and expectations
- Respond to RFIs and provide scope clarifications during the bidding process
- Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure alignment from bid to project execution
- Support smooth handoff of awarded projects to operations teams via CRM and in person workflows and meetings
Process Improvement & Support
- Continuously improve estimating accuracy, templates, and processes
- Assist in developing standardized assemblies, unit pricing, and estimating tools
- Support operational and sales teams with technical insight and scope clarification
- Contribute to building a scalable and repeatable estimating process

- Bid-to-win ratio (%)

- Estimate accuracy vs. actual job performance
- Gross margin performance on awarded projects
- Turnaround time on bids
- Number of bids completed per month/quarter

Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of landscaping construction experience (required)
- Experience in estimating, takeoffs, or project management
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and scopes
- Strong understanding of landscaping construction methods, materials, and sequencing
- Experience using CRM systems
- Proficient in Excel and/or other estimating software
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously

Compensation Structure
- On Target Earnings (OTE): $85,000 $105,000 DOE
- Base Salary + Performance Bonus Opportunities
