Turley are looking to appoint a landscape specialist to join our Heritage, Townscape and Landscape team. We are involved in a diverse range of work and valued by our clients for providing rigorous analysis and well-considered advice at key stages of the design and development process. We often provide advice in the initial stages of a project, ensuring that landscape and townscape issues are considered from the outset and embedded in the design response. We work on some projects directly for clients and on others alongside other professional services in Turley, including our planning, sustainability, design, economics and strategic communications teams.

The role is a great opportunity for a landscape professional to join a diverse and friendly team of landscape, townscape and heritage professionals at a time when demand for our services is growing and we are developing new fields of work and sharing skills and experience across disciplines. Working from our London, Manchester and/or Birmingham office you will work on a wide variety of project types across the UK, with prestigious private and public sector clients.

The role includes working on a wide range of projects, including: landscape and townscape appraisals and feasibility studies; development and design advice; urban/landscape design strategies to assist with planning applications, landscape, townscape and visual impact assessments; and local plan representations; and assisting with landscape and townscape evidence at planning appeals.

We are seeking candidates experienced in landscape and townscape analysis, advice and assessment, and strategic landscape/ urban design work within the planning and development process. You should have knowledge of the design and planning process in both urban and rural contexts and robust UK professional workplace experience. (Experience of landscape assessment and landscape planning is essential and experience of townscape assessment and urban design is desirable but not essential). You should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills and ideally, knowledge of using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. Experience of 3D city modelling programmes such as Vu.City (or similar) and GIS desirable, but not essential.
