Position Title: Landfill Operations Engineer

Pay Rate: $54.00/hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (40 hours/week)

Location: Nokomis, FL

Position Summary:

Our client is seeking a Senior Engineer to support the Solid Waste Department in a consultant capacity. This role will provide project management advisement, engineering expertise, and operational support on capital improvements and other technical assignments related to landfill operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide engineering consultation and subject matter expertise on landfill operations
• Review and submit regulatory permits, reports, and data
• Advise on fill sequence progress, confirmed through survey or data
• Support staff with technical and engineering projects
• Oversee or complete advanced technical assignments
• Manage and direct consultants, contractors, and internal staff
• Perform technical analyses and certify plans and specs
• Coordinate assigned capital improvement projects
• Sign and seal documents as a licensed professional engineer

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related technical field
• Four (4) years of project experience post-licensure
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Geologist (P.G.) required
• Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience

Certifications/Experience:

• SWANA Manager of Landfill Operations
• Florida Landfill Operator Certification
• Florida Professional Engineer License
• Experience with eBuilder software, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and survey methods
• Environmental engineering or solid waste management background

Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
• Work may involve exposure to outdoor conditions and occasional contact with chemicals or fumes
• Steel-toe shoes required
• Valid driver’s license required (driving may be necessary, but no assigned vehicle)
