A civil engineering firm in Puyallup, WA is seeking an energetic Team member with strong multitasking skills for a full-time position. The position is primarily as a Land Use Planner with strong administrative skills. The Land Planner position requires managing projects from feasibility through entitlement phases with an emphasis on residential subdivisions. This is an in-office position.
The position also offers the opportunity to become a Certified Erosion Control Site Inspector providing part-time assistance in the field. This position will require knowledge and certification for the Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Ecology's Construction Stormwater General Permit (CSGP). Training will be provided.
Planning Duties include:
- Conducting preliminary property research and coordinating with Project Managers to determine initial feasibility of project.
- Review and interpret municipal zoning and development regulations
- Coordinate with consultants for applicable studies and assessments
- Coordination, submittal and monitoring of permit applications
- Review and address governmental/municipal agency comments
- Communicate with clients regularly responding to inquiries and providing project updates
- Coordinate with clients and staff for administrative assistance.
CESCL Duties include:
- Monitoring construction sites throughout western Washington
- Water quality testing in the field
- Coordinate with project personnel to ensure mitigation measures associated with water quality are implemented in the field.
- Manage documentation and data, including inspection reports and spill logs.
- Willingness and ability to work fluctuate and/or long hours as necessary.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- While prioritizing health and safety, this position requires an individual who can walk and hike through varying degrees of difficult terrain.
- Required to perform job responsibilities in inclement weather conditions.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Land Planning concepts, principal practices and basic office procedural knowledge
- Local, state and federal regulations for development projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, coworkers, and jurisdictional/municipal staff
- Proficient with MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Able to manage and multitask work in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain confidentiality
- Monitoring operating budgets and costs
- Adhere to strict deadlines
- AutoCAD skills are a plus, but are not required
This is a full time, in office position paying hourly for 40 hours per week plus overtime paid at 1.5 times hourly rate. Our compensation program recognizes and rewards employees for their hard work by offering annual performance-based bonuses.
