What You’ll Do
- Perform a broad range of lab testing without direct supervision, including RT-qPCR procedures and high-complexity testing
- Receive, accession, and process biological specimens; solve specimen collection and processing issues
- Execute and document quality control procedures and corrective actions per lab protocols
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment as needed
- Verify and report accurate results in a timely manner using EMR and instrument software systems
- Comply with OSHA, CLIA, COLA, and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and accuracy
- Maintain inventory of reagents and lab supplies; ensure cost-effective utilization
- Participate in lab proficiency testing and continuous performance improvement initiatives
What You Bring to the Role
- Meets CLIA, CMS, and COLA requirements for high-complexity testing:
- Bachelor’s in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology; OR
- Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology; OR
- Equivalent education/training including:
- 60 semester hours including 24 hours in science/MLT coursework
- At least 3 months documented lab training in each tested specialty
- Knowledge of molecular laboratory techniques; RT-qPCR experience
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Effective communicator and collaborative team member
- Comfortable working 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds
