Position Summary: The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing various laboratory tasks to support production and quality control. This includes conducting analyses and physical tests on samples, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, and maintaining laboratory equipment and cleanliness. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, the ability to work well in a team, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Role Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other lab personnel to complete tasks accurately and on time.
- Perform analyses and physical tests on in-process, finished, cleanout, and check samples.
- Ensure samples are taken and retains are prepared according to customer requirements.
- Release products that meet testing and customer specifications.
- Follow procedures for disposing of laboratory waste.
- Report production unit status in the shift log at the end of each shift.
- Calibrate production unit scales at least once per shift.
- Conduct instrument qualifications, clean-outs, and special analyses as needed.
- Perform water treatment plant duties as instructed.
- Prepare reagent standards, such as 342 water.
- Calibrate lab equipment as assigned.
- Maintain and organize sample retain lockers.
- Perform laboratory housekeeping duties.
- Monitor inventory of consumables and stock work areas.
- Adhere to safety rules and perform tasks responsibly.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Education:
- Associate’s degree in chemistry or a related technical field, or a high school diploma with 2 years of relevant work experience.
Experience / Skills / Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Job Expectations / Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily performed in a laboratory setting.
- May involve exposure to hazardous chemicals and materials; proper safety protocols must be followed.
- Requires standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
- May require lifting and moving of equipment and samples up to 25 pounds.
- Shift work may be required, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- May involve occasional travel to other company sites or customer locations.
