Job Description

Title: Verification Engineer (I) / Lab Technician

Location: Cambridge, MA (HYBRID)

Term: 7 months of contract opportunity


Description:

This role is a hands-on hardware and verification position focused on supporting advanced laboratory equipment, cryogenic setups, RF systems, and infrastructure. The candidate will assemble, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware systems while performing verification, testing, and documentation activities. Python scripting is used for simple automation and equipment control tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware & Lab Support

  • Set up and maintain electronics racks including RF signal generators, analyzers, and related instrumentation
  • Assemble and wire cryogenic or precision hardware systems
  • Build custom electronics boxes, mechanical fixtures, and small-scale hardware components
  • Perform routine maintenance on infrastructure such as compressors, pumps, and fluid-cooling systems

Verification & Testing

  • Execute verification tests and document results based on defined test plans
  • Select appropriate test equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers, chambers, microscopes, generators, optical tools)
  • Report bugs found during testing and assist in root-cause analysis
  • Support audits of validation processes to ensure compliance with internal requirements

Automation & Software Support

  • Contribute to lightweight scripting or programming tasks (primarily Python)
  • Develop small utilities or workflows to improve test efficiency and equipment control

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering teams to refine test procedures
  • Share findings, documentation, and improvements with internal stakeholders

Required Skills

  • Experience setting up, wiring, and maintaining electronic and mechanical systems
  • Proficiency with lab equipment: multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, soldering tools, etc.
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Understanding of mechanical systems (pumps, compressors, cooling lines)
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Attention to detail with consistent, high-quality documentation
  • Ability to work independently and within collaborative engineering teams

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with cryogenic, vacuum, or precision mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with RF / microwave components and test equipment
  • Basic programming or scripting skills (Python )
