Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: Birmingham

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Are you a Chemistry, Materials Science, or Forensic Science graduate looking to build your career in a hands-on laboratory environment?


SRG is working with a leading engineering and testing organisation to recruit two Laboratory Technicians to join their growing team in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates with a scientific background who are motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to develop technical skills within a fast-paced industrial setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of metallographic samples for examination and testing
  • Conducting hardness and microhardness testing for quality inspection and case depth measurement
  • Maintaining laboratory consumables, equipment, and stock levels
  • Recording and archiving test data using computer systems and data logging software
  • Preparing and issuing test reports and certificates under supervision
  • Performing basic mechanical, physical, optical, or chemical testing
  • Supporting continuous process control and equipment monitoring


Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Forensic Science
  • Strong attention to detail and good dexterity for sample preparation and testing
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Must hold a full driving licence and be able to commute to site
  • Right to work in the UK – no sponsorship available
  • Willingness to work shift patterns (7 x 12-hour days every other week)

Week On / Week Off Rotation

Day - Hours

Monday - 10:00AM–9:00PM

Tuesday - 10:00AM–9:00PM

Wednesday - 10:00AM–9:00PM

Thursday - 10:00AM–9:00PM

Friday - 10:00AM–7:00PM

Saturday - 7:00AM–7:00PM

Sunday - 7:00AM–7:00PM
