Job Description
Role: Laboratory Systems Engineer (Field Service Engineer - Electro-Mechanical)
Location: Newcastle Region - Covering 3 NHS hospitals under the Gateshead Trust (Gateshead, Sunderland, and South Tynes)
Hours: Full time - Field-based
Pay: £200-£250 per day PAYE basic (excluding holiday pay) / £265.27-£331.59 Umbrella (including holiday pay)
Contract: 12-month contract - Inside IR35

The Requirements:
\n
- \n
- Degree, HNC/HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Proven background in field service, diagnostic, or technical support
- Thorough and current understanding of the IVD industry
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Resilient and tenacious, with the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Growth mindset and familiarity with agile working techniques

The Role:

- Provide frontline support across multiple analytical systems within NHS hospital laboratories
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical and application issues to minimise unplanned equipment downtime
- Deliver high-quality IT and applications support to end users
- Conduct training sessions for laboratory staff on system use and best practices
- Ensure consistent service excellence and contribute to improved patient care outcomes
