Laboratory Team Leader – Microbiology & Quality

Hull, Kingston Upon Hull

Day Shift 37.5 hours per week

No travel or on-call

Full-Time | Permanent

• We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing client for an experienced Laboratory Team Leader to oversee microbiological and analytical testing within a fast-paced, high-compliance environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the site laboratory team, ensuring high standards in both microbiological and analytical testing.
• Oversee daily lab operations, maintaining compliance with ISO 9001:2015, BRCGS, HACCP, and food safety standards.
• Interpret test results and take appropriate action to ensure product quality and process integrity.
• Coordinate the laboratory shift rota to ensure 24/7 coverage.
• Manage laboratory consumables, equipment calibration, and maintenance schedules.
• Generate and present quality data and reports to internal stakeholders.
• Support external testing, audits, and the implementation of new analysis methodologies.
• Promote a strong safety and quality culture across the department.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Proven experience supervising a laboratory team within food, chemical, or related manufacturing sectors
• Solid understanding of microbiological and analytical testing methods
• Experience working within a regulated quality system environment
• Strong working knowledge of HACCP and food safety principles
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and data reporting systems
