The Processing Manager is a key member of the outpatient lab services management team and plays a critical role in providing quality patient care by ensuring accurate and reliable sample processing on a daily basis. The ideal candidate has specimen processing experience, is passionate about patient care, an independent thinker that thrives in a fast-paced environment. The perfect candidate will be able to work a flexible schedule with primary work hours between 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. The Processing Manager is responsible for overseeing specimen processing and logistics for a multi-site partner and leads 3-5 direct reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensures the accuracy of specimen processing and the quality of specimens.
2. Monitors employee performance through evaluations and counseling.
3. Keeps an accurate inventory and orders supplies as needed.
4. Ensures compliance with all federal, state and company regulations.
5. Maintains daily workflow through proper employee scheduling.
6. Maintain excellent working relationships with all clients and their staff by providing excellent service and by getting involved in training and problem resolution.
7. Reports any issues to the Laboratory Manager and /or UWL Program Manager and follow through with the resolution
8. Be familiar with, and adhere to Compliance Policies and explain relevant issues to clients.
9. Ensure that any supplies that are given to clients are in accordance with hospital policy and are reasonable based upon usage.
10. Responsible to treat all employees and clients with honesty, dignity, courtesy, and respect
11. Provide support to Phlebotomy Operations as needed
12. Act as on call supervisory resource on rotating weekends
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Provides accurate communication to physicians and their staff regarding the proper ordering of lab tests and with obtaining lab results.
2. Monitors that testing is performed in a timely manner and results given to the physician within established standards of turnaround time.
3. Demonstrates the ability to assume the job of any staff member in case of employee absence.
4. Demonstrates initiative by seeking to improve the performance of the program before an identified weakness becomes a problem.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
- Clinical Lab Technology background required
- At least 5 years management/supervisory experience in a laboratory or medical field
- Excellent customer service skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to be flexible to changing priorities, and to handle multiple tasks
- Ability to schedule and plan workloads, implement systems and projects that align with company objectives
- Understanding of regulatory compliance and basic quality systems
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Flexible with work schedules, able to work evenings and regular weekends as needed.
