Job Description

Laboratory Analyst required, based in East Yorkshire on a permanent basis. Proven industrial experience of wet chemistry analysis is preferred, but not essential. Any microbiology testing experience is also advantageous. Recent graduates encouraged to apply.

Salary: £23,000-£28,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

SRG are working with a well-established company that supply ingredients and raw materials to the pet food manufacturing industry. They are seeking to hire a Laboratory Analyst on a permanent basis, to join their team based in East Yorkshire. This role will involve supporting a small analytical team in testing of raw materials and finished products, through mainly wet chemistry analysis. Proven industrial experience of wet chemistry is preferred but not essential, with any microbiology testing experience also advantageous. Candidates who have recently graduated are encouraged to apply, as full training can be provided. This role would also suit candidates that have analytical wet chemistry experience through industry, who are looking to further their analytical testing career.

Full training can be provided to recent graduates.

Role / Description

• Preparing samples of raw materials and finished products using a range of wet chemistry techniques dependent on method requirement
• Conducting analysis of samples as and when required using mainly wet chemistry (moisture, protein, oil A, Ash, PV, FFA)
• Operating and maintaining standard laboratory equipment and instrumentation
• Organising and planning daily workload and liaising with the team to meet turn-around times
• Maintaining and developing quality of analysis within UKAS standards and guidelines

Requirements

• Strong wet chemistry analytical skills
• Any qualification in Chemistry including BSc/HNC/HND
• Industrial experience of microbiology testing is also advantageous
• Self-motivated and pro-active, with a willingness to learn
• Good communication skills and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong work ethic, able to take initiative and ownership of tasks
