Junior Systems Engineer
for Scott Data Center/ Scott Managed Services, Omaha, Nebraska | (NoAK Management LLC)
Scott Data Center in Omaha, Nebraska is an Uptime Institute Tier III certified (design and facility) data center delivering best-in-class security and storage of business-critical infrastructure. The purpose-built Scott Data Center is located on a technology campus which supports innovation, security, telecommunications, compute, network, and data storage infrastructure. We are seeking a passionate and talented Systems Engineer to join our multi-facetted team. You will have opportunities to engage in a variety of data center and technology services. As a Systems Engineer, you will have a variety of diverse responsibilities. We are looking for self-motivated team members that handle multiple concurrent projects and effectively manage their time. This technology team member role supports the current ongoing operations and potential future technology services. This support includes operating systems, servers, storage, security, and networking. Opportunities to influence and implement newly created technical service offerings will also be available in this role. As a member of the Scott Data Center team, you will:
- Support server, network, security, storage, and backup systems.
- Execute tasks related to automation, management, monitoring, and troubleshooting of supported systems.
- Assist with planning and implementation of new deployments as well as deprovisioning systems that have reached end of life.
- Assist in resolution of operational issues and participate in retrospectives.
- Collaborate with Service Development and Facility Operations.
- Interact with and support our clients in a professional manner.
- Adhere to our IT Service Management and Service Desk practices.
- Participate in on-call rotation schedule.
The ideal candidate should have:
- High school diploma required, or minimum of 1 to 3 years of professional experience required.
- ITIL or similar certifications are a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Familiarization with creating or updating IT documentation and diagramming is .
- Previously operated or maintained production IT environments. Planning experience is a plus.
- Comfort operating in Windows and familiarization with Linux environments, including patch management.
- Familiarization with:
- Virtual machine (VM) management: VMware, Nutanix, or Hyper-V .
- Deploying or managing VMs or containers on public or private clouds.
- Remote management protocols, such as IPMI, DRAC, iLO, RDP, SSH, VNC, or others.
- Remote monitoring and logging, such as WMI, syslog, SNMP, NetFlow, or others.
- Firewall management: FortiGate, Palo Alto, or other object policy platform .
- Network Switch administration, such as Cisco, Juniper, Extreme, or Aruba. Arista or Ubiquiti .
- and Access Management administration: LDAP, Active Directory, or Azure AD .
- Email and end-user accounts support. Microsoft 365 experience is a plus.
- Endpoint management. Microsoft Intune of Kandji .
- Network print server administration.
- Back-up system management or administration. Veeam .
- Automation, scripting, or programming: PowerShell, Ansible, or Python .
- Incident response and ticket management experience.
- Flexibility of schedule to travel and work limited evenings and weekends.
