Junior Structural Engineer | Ogden, UT

We are seeking Junior-Level Structural Engineers to join our team in support of the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the U.S. Air Force’s Sentinel program (formerly GBSD). This is an on-site role in Ogden, Utah with excellent work/life balance, including a 9x80 schedule (every other Friday off), paid overtime, and relocation assistance for qualified candidates.

This is a unique opportunity to make an impact on security by contributing to the modernization of the nation’s nuclear deterrent. You’ll support the design and construction of critical launch infrastructure at locations including Vandenberg AFB (CA), F.E. Warren AFB (WY), Malmstrom AFB (MT), and Minot AFB (ND). Working alongside Bechtel, you’ll help deliver innovative, high-impact structural solutions that shape the future of U.S. defense infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design structural systems using statics, dynamics, and materials principles

• Develop engineering deliverables: concrete/steel calculations, specifications, and material requisitions

• Prepare procurement and subcontract requisitions; participate in bid evaluations

• Review and support development of structural drawings and construction details

• Assist with conceptual designs, studies, reports, proposals, and quantity take-offs

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams on structural matters

• Participate in constructability reviews to ensure design feasibility and compliance

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship

• Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance

• Valid Real ID–compliant driver’s license or state-issued ID

• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening (including marijuana)

• Registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or equivalent

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering tools

• Knowledge of structural codes/standards: AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, IBC, ASCE 7

• Education/Experience:

o High school diploma + 6 years relevant experience OR

o Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering + 2 years relevant experience

• Strong written/verbal communication and teamwork skills

• Active security clearance

• Experience with Tekla or other structural modeling software

• Familiarity with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and Whole Building Design Guide (WBDG)

• Experience with CSI MasterFormat or SpecsIntact specifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil or Structural Engineering

• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field

Pay

$100,000 – $125,000 per year (DOE)

Schedule

• Full-time, on-site in Ogden, UT

• Standard work hours: 7am–3pm

• 9x80 schedule (every other Friday off)
