K.R. Saline & Associates (KRSA) is seeking a motivated Junior Electrical Engineer (EIT or EIT-eligible) to join our tight-knit consulting engineering department, to support ongoing analysis of NERC transmission grids for a variety of clients. This role is intended as a long-term position for an early-career engineer who is eager to develop technical expertise, gain hands-on experience, and progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure within the firm.
This position offers early exposure to direct client interaction, allowing the Junior Electrical Engineer to develop not only strong technical skills, but also the communication and coordination abilities essential to a successful consulting career. The Junior Electrical Engineer will work closely with senior engineers on system layouts and models, analysis processes, calculations, and technical report writing - building a strong technical foundation and industry knowledge while contributing to high-quality engineering deliverables.
Primary Qualifications
***A Batchelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or Electronic Engineering is required for this position.*** Soon-to-graduate (< 12 months) may apply, provided other criteria is met and transcript is provided.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and analysis of electrical systems for transmission projects, utilizing tools such as PSLF, ASPEN, and PSCAD. (technical skill)
- Collaborate with teams to create comprehensive study plans, conduct them, and follow-through with client deliverables. (communication)
- Utilize programming skills in Python, VBA, and EPCL for data analysis and automation tasks. (technical skill - not a disqualifier)
- Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues. (analytical ability)
- Prepare detailed and well-organized reports and documentation, ensuring clear communication and understanding with clients. (writing & communication)
- Prepare technically-heavy, and detail-consistent generator and load interconnection applications. (organization & attention to detail)
- Communicate issues and project progression effectively and willingly with team leaders. (communication)
- Manage several active projects simultaneously (time management)
- Maintain a courteous and helpful working relationship with clients. (customer service)
At least a basic understanding of power systems is required. At the core, this job relies on developing a deep working knowledge of high voltage (34.5kV+), positive sequence, balanced power systems, their components, and mathematical practicum. The primary focus of most tasks is on high-level transmission system planning and analysis.
Prior related job experience is recommended, not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
It takes about 1-3 years to train new hires to independence, so this is an in-person job for at least the first year, with remote work available dependent on performance.
The candidate, if hired, will primarily be working with GE Vernova's PSLF powerflow software and Microsoft Excel, along with several proprietary scripts and applications, basic mapping software, and some other electrical modeling softwares.
The candidate must be proficient in Excel.
The candidate must have excellent writing skills. (We will ask for examples).

Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience and criteria met. Some conditions may be probationary. All positions are full time (40 hours per week), and have paid overtime on approval. Some example starting compensation ranges being offered are as follows:
- Fresh Graduate, BSE: $65,000+
- Fresh Graduate, MSE: $70,000+
- 5 years experience, related field: $75,000+ (Please see alternate listing)
- 5 years experience, same field: $85,000+ (Please see alternate listing)
- Senior engineer (10+ years experience); same field: $120,000+ (Please see alternate listing)
