Compensation Range: $45/hr - $50/hr (conversion up to ~$95K)
Job Description:

Support and improve the reliability, availability, and security of a cloud- platform powering rec.gov . This role focuses on operating and automating AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure, improving CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring systems remain compliant within regulated environments such as FedRAMP and PCI.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Owns reliability and day-to-day operations of a secure AWS platform through automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code (CDK/Terraform/CloudFormation).
  • Builds, deploys, and supports Kubernetes-based services while monitoring performance and quickly triaging issues.
  • Improves developer experience by streamlining pipelines, tooling, and workflows; uses AI tools to increase efficiency.
  • Works within regulated environments (FedRAMP/PCI/SOC2), applying strong cloud, OOP, and security fundamentals.

Requirements: Must-Haves:

  • 2 years of hands-on experience in DevOps or DevSecOps engineering
  • Strong experience developing automation for builds, testing, monitoring, and releases
  • Hands-on experience administering Kubernetes in production environments
  • Experience developing and securing cloud- solutions in AWS
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code using AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation
  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming fundamentals
  • Recent hands-on-keyboard engineering experience within the last two years
  • Experience automating tasks ranging from simple scripts to complex deployment workflows
  • Experience using AI tooling to accelerate or streamline engineering tasks
  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience, or 6 years of experience in lieu of a degree

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with AWS CDK and TypeScript
  • Experience with AWS logging and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, OpenSearch, Organizations)
  • Experience with AWS security services (GuardDuty, Macie, Inspector, Detective)
  • Experience operating platforms compliant with FedRAMP, PCI DSS, SOC2, or HITRUST
  • Experience working in government-regulated environments with an ATO
  • Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash
  • Experience using Amazon Q
