Jr. Performance Engineer in Phoenix
Job Description
Key Responsibilities

Collect packet captures and perform guided analysis to help identify latency, retransmissions, packet loss, connection failures, and unusual traffic behavior.
\n
\n
Assist with troubleshooting application-layer services such as HTTP/S, APIs, DNS, TLS/SSL, and authentication workflows.
\n
\n
Trace traffic across enterprise networks and document the path, symptoms, timing, and likely points of failure.
\n
\n
Support investigations involving Cisco routing and switching, SD-WAN, Direct Internet Access, and hybrid-cloud connectivity.
\n
\n
Help troubleshoot performance and connection issues affecting Azure ExpressRoute-supported services.
\n
\n
Work with network, cloud, infrastructure, operations, and application teams to gather evidence and validate corrective actions.
\n
\n
Support incident-response activities, maintain accurate technical notes, and contribute to root-cause documentation.
\n
\n
Collect baseline measurements, monitor performance trends, and escalate material changes or recurring issues.
\n
\n
Build knowledge through documented procedures, lab work, peer review, and hands-on troubleshooting assignments.
\n
\n
Required Qualifications
\n
\n
Foundational professional experience in a NOC, network support, infrastructure support, systems support, application support, or similar technical environment.
\n
\n
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, and common network-troubleshooting concepts.
\n
\n
Exposure to packet-capture tools such as Wireshark or tcpdump and the ability to interpret basic traffic flows.
\n
\n
Basic understanding of HTTP/S, TLS/SSL, APIs, and client-server application behavior.
\n
\n
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to work through issues methodically.
\n
\n
Ability to document technical findings clearly and collaborate with more experienced engineers and cross-functional teams.
\n
\n
Ability to work on-site in Phoenix, Arizona, Monday through Friday.
\n
\n
Qualifications
\n
\n
One to three years of experience in network operations, infrastructure, application support, or performance troubleshooting.
\n
\n
Exposure to Cisco networking, SD-WAN, Direct Internet Access, or Azure ExpressRoute.
\n
\n
Familiarity with monitoring, observability, or application performance tools.
\n
\n
PowerShell, Python, or other basic scripting experience.
\n
\n
Associate or bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, networking, cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
\n
\n
Network+, CCNA, Azure Fundamentals, or another relevant entry-level certification.
\n
