Journeyman Maintenance Electrician

Under general supervision, perform journey-level work in the design, installation, construction, modification, repair and maintenance of electrical apparatuses, equipment and systems; act as lead worker to other classified staff in the area; and perform related work as required. Will be asked to perform mechanical tasks in addition to electrical work.

Examples of key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. The following duties are listed both as trade specific and shared responsibilities.

1. Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains electrical distribution systems including electric motors and electric controls.

2. Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system.

3. Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction.

4. May diagnose as well as replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and also pneumatic components of machines equipment.

5. Maintains appropriate service and repair records.

6. Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.

7. Assists and serves as back up to other Maintenance employees.

Requirements:

Must hold a Journeyman Card

Must be willing to work 2nd or 3rd shift

Ability to climb a ladder and step ladder.

Bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing, walking, etc., as job may require.

Noise level which may, at times, require normal hearing protection in the form of ear plugs.

Electricity

Lubricating fluids, cleaning solvents, batteries, etc.

Willingness to work inside plant and outside during inclement weather.

Some work in high temperature environment.

Personal protective equipment required to be worn at all times include hard hat, safety glasses and steel toed safety boots.

Requires exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.

Must be able to stand for long periods.

Must be able to work in a tight, close environment when needed.

Ensure compliance of all work-related activities in a fair, ethical, and consistent manner.
