Journeyman Electrician Solar
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionCurrently seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join a growing team. The position requires solar power experience for commercial properties. This is a direct hire position.
Pay is $36-$38/hr. depending on experience Travel maybe required throughout TX - per diem offered Shift starts at 7am
Solar Journeyman Electrician duties:
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in accordance with NEC ( Electrical Code)
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Install and service panel boards, breakers, conduits, transformers, and lighting systems
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults using testing devices
- Perform upgrades or rewiring during commercial renovations or new builds
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and electrical codes
- Install and wire PV (photovoltaic) solar systems, including inverters, racking systems, and panels
- Connect solar systems to the main service panel and ensure grid interconnection compliance
- Perform system testing, grounding, and commissioning of commercial solar arrays
- Troubleshoot inverters, DC/AC circuits, combiner boxes, and monitoring equipment
- Collaborate with solar engineers and site foremen on layout and system design
- Maintain and inspect solar systems for performance and code compliance
- Install battery storage systems
- Work in a variety of commercial settings: office buildings, retail centers, schools, warehouses, hospitals, etc.
- Coordinate with general contractors, project managers, HVAC techs, and solar installation teams
- Ensure safety compliance on busy worksites with ladders, lifts, and rooftop access
- Maintain accurate documentation and log service reports or daily job tickets
- Adhere to job schedules, work orders, and permit requirements
Requirements:
- Must have solar experience
- Previous commercial solar experience
- Must have valid/current Journeyman Electrician TDLR license
- Clean driving record to drive company vehicle
- Knowledge of solar codes: NEC Article 690, rapid shutdown, grounding requirements
- Experience with tools: voltmeters, ammeters, conduit benders, megohmmeters
- Familiarity with solar software or monitoring tools (e.g., SolarEdge, Enphase, SMA)
