The Project
The Jetty Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant management of all quay, jetty, and wharf operations supporting offshore drilling, production, and exploration activities. The role ensures that vessels are berthed safely, cargo is handled correctly, lifting operations comply with company standards, and logistics activities are coordinated without disrupting ongoing operations.
The Jetty Supervisor acts as the focal point for all marine movements at the logistics base and coordinates multiple stakeholders to support offshore operations.
Detailed Responsibilities
Manage Jetty / Quay / Wharf Operations
The Jetty Supervisor is responsible for:
- Managing all jetty operations.
- Managing quay operations.
- Managing wharf operations.
- Supervising vessel movements.
- Coordinating arrivals and departures.
- Monitoring berth occupancy.
- Controlling marine traffic at the logistics base.
- Acting as the focal point for all marine movements.
- Supporting the Block 58 Development Program.
- Supporting exploration and appraisal campaigns.
- Coordinating multiple offshore support vessels simultaneously.
Vessel Operations
Responsible for supervising:
- Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs)
- Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessels (AHTS)
- Installation Vessels
- Drill Ships
- Cargo Barges
- Supply Boats
Daily responsibilities include:
- Berthing
- Unberthing
- Vessel scheduling
- Cargo planning
- Bunkering operations
- Loading
- Backloading
- Deck cargo operations
- Bulk cargo operations
Close coordination with Vessel Masters is required to ensure safe loading and unloading activities.
Marine Logistics Coordination
The Jetty Supervisor coordinates logistics activities involving:
- Warehouse operations
- Tubular yard
- Well Services
- Third-party logistics contractors
- Shipping department
- Security department
- Planning department
- Offshore installations
- Material movement teams
The objective is to ensure that offshore assets receive the right materials at the right time while avoiding operational delays
Cargo Handling
The Jetty Supervisor supervises:
- Cargo loading
- Cargo discharge
- Cargo backloading
- Material handling
- Transit storage
- Buffer zones
- Dangerous goods handling
- Sea fastening
- Cargo securing
- Material transfer to warehouse
- Delivery to service companies
Typical cargo includes:
- Containers
- OCTG/Tubulars
- Offshore equipment
- Chemicals
- Fuel
- Bulk materials
- Drilling consumables
- Hazardous goods
Packaging and sea-fastening must comply with IMO and IMDG requirements.
HSE Responsibilities
The Jetty Supervisor is accountable for maintaining the highest HSE standards by:
- Enforcing company HSE policies.
- Conducting Toolbox Talks.
- Leading Safety Green Lights.
- Verifying lifting gear compliance.
- Monitoring hazardous material handling.
- Managing waste.
- Stopping unsafe work.
- Participating in Permit to Work meetings.
- Acting as Performing Authority.
- Leading Man Overboard (MOB) drills.
- Participating in Oil Spill Response drills.
- Enforcing the "5R" waste hierarchy (Reduce, Recover, Reuse, Recycle, Residue disposal).
Lifting Operations
Working closely with the Authorized Person for Lifting Operations (APLO), the Jetty Supervisor:
- Assesses personnel competency.
- Verifies lifting equipment.
- Allocates riggers, banksmen, and stevedores.
- Ensures lifting gear certification.
- Confirms equipment readiness.
- Verifies compliance with the Lifting Management System (LMS).
SIMOPS Management
The Jetty Supervisor manages Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) by:
- Coordinating concurrent loading activities.
- Managing multiple contractors.
- Preventing operational conflicts.
- Maintaining communication between marine, logistics, warehouse, and security teams.
- Ensuring safe vessel interface operations.
Documentation
Responsible for verifying and maintaining:
- Cargo manifests.
- Kabal documentation.
- MSDS.
- Delivery notes.
- Dangerous Goods declarations.
- Certificates of Conformance.
- Vessel load-out documentation.
- Material movement records.
- Operational reports.
- Lessons learned reports.
