We are seeking an IT/Data Cabling/Infrastructure Engineer to join our team supporting a prestigious client account.\n\nRole Summary:\n \nThe primary focus of this role is to take full ownership and accountability for the operational requirements of communication rooms across occupied office environments. This includes ensuring that all data cabling, racks, PDUs, and supporting infrastructure are installed, maintained, tested, and managed in accordance with current standards, legislation, and client requirements. The role also requires overseeing the client's appointed external contractor to ensure all planned preventive maintenance (PPM) for M&E systems is completed in line with agreed schedules.

This position requires travel between Paddington, Reading, and Basingstoke, with occasional travel to Europe as needed.\n \n This role sits within the Corporate Real Estate (CRE) team and works closely with the Corporate IT (CIT) team. The CRE team maintains accountability for communications rooms, passive infrastructure, and associated M&E systems, while CIT retains ownership of active IT equipment housed within the racks\n\n Key Responsibilities:\n \n This role sits within the Corporate Real Estate (CRE) team and works closely with the Corporate IT (CIT) team. The CRE team maintains accountability for communications rooms, passive infrastructure, and associated M&E systems, while CIT retains ownership of active IT equipment housed within the racks\n \nStructured Cabling\n\nInstall, terminate, label, test, and fault‑find structured data cabling (copper and fibre) in occupied office environments.\nRun cabling from patch panels to:\nMain Distribution Frames (MDFs)\nIntermediate Distribution Frames (IDFs)\nEnd‑user outlets and meeting room locations\nCarry out certification testing using industry‑standard testing equipment and ensure results are accurately recorded.\nEnsure all cabling installations meet recognised industry standards and internal requirements.\nMaintain accurate cabling records, labelling, and as‑built documentation.\n \nCommunications Rooms (IDF / MDF) Ownership\n\nAct as the responsible person for all communications rooms within the building(s).\nEnsure all comms rooms are:\nSecure, clean, and well organised\nMaintained in accordance with current standards and legislation\nFree from unauthorised equipment, materials, or cabling\nMaintain data racks, containment systems, PDUs, and all passive infrastructure supporting the racks.\nMonitor environmental conditions and escalate issues to engineering teams where required.\n \nInterface with Corporate IT (CIT)\n\nAct as the primary point of contact for CIT for any proposed changes or additions to data racks.\nReview and coordinate all new equipment installations before works commence.\nProvide safe access and suitable infrastructure for CIT activities, without assuming responsibility for active IT equipment.\n \nMoves, Adds and Changes (MACs)\n\nSupport small office moves, desk reconfigurations, and layout changes to ensure users have the correct connectivity.\nCoordinate activities with workplace, facilities, and IT teams to minimise disruption.\n \nContractor Management\n\nCoordinate and oversee client‑appointed subcontractors completing:\nLarger cabling installations\nProject works\nOffice moves and reconfigurations\nMonitor quality of workmanship and ensure compliance with agreed standards, design specification, and site procedures.\nEscalate non‑compliance or performance issues where required.\n \nPlanned Preventive Maintenance (PPM)\n\nOversee completion of all PPM activities related to: M&E systems supporting communications, rooms, Data cabling infrastructure, Cleaning of communications rooms by the appropriate internal teams or contractors\nTrack completion, documentation, and follow‑up actions.\nComplete routine visual checks of communication rooms\n \nHealth, Safety & Compliance\n\nEnsure all works are carried out in line with health, safety, and site procedures.\nPromote best practice in cable management, housekeeping, and risk reduction within communications spaces.\nMaintain a strong understanding of H&S obligations.\n \nGeneral\n\nManage the end‑to‑end process for change requests relating to equipment in communication rooms, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and the change control calendar.\nUphold robust access‑control processes for all communication rooms.\nStay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies.\nUndertake additional tasks as directed by senior management.\nPromote and uphold the core values of CBRE.\n \nExperience Required:\n\n Qualifications\n\nCity & Guilds 3668 Level 3 Certificate in Communications Cabling, or demonstrable equivalent experience.\nEligible to hold an ECS Network Infrastructure Installer Level 3 card (Copper, Fibre, or both).\nProven hands on experience installing, terminating, testing, and fault finding structured cabling in occupied office environments.\n \nDesirable\n\nBICSI certification (Installer or Technician level).\nManufacturer or cable tester certification (e.g.

Fluke).\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.\n \nSkills & Experience\n\nExperience working in enterprise communications rooms.\nStrong organisational skills and attention to detail.\nAbility to work independently and take ownership of assigned areas.\nExperience coordinating third‑party contractors.\nClear communication skills and a professional approach when working with internal teams and clients.\nExcellent PC based skills, with experience in Word/Excel and Outlook.\nProven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.\n \nAptitude\n\nExcellent verbal and a good standard of written communication skills.\nStrong problem-solving skills.\nSelf-motivated and systematic.\nHigh attention to detail, accuracy and analytics skills.\nStrong documentation control.\nAbility to work independently and manage time effectively.\nCommitment to continuous improvement.\n \nCharacter\n\nReliable and committed.\nSmart appearance.\nBe flexible to work outside of core office hours from time to time
