About the Company

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Tool and Inventory Management Specialist to oversee our company's tool crib and inventory systems while championing 5S principles. *Must have experience with tool crib management to be considered for this role.* This role will be responsible for managing tools, equipment, and general inventory, ensuring proper documentation, maintenance, and stock control across the organization, all while implementing and maintaining 5S standards.


Responsibilities

Tool Crib and Inventory Management:

  • Issue and receive tools and equipment to/from employees
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for tools, equipment, and supplies using computerized systems
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder points for all inventory items
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconciliations

5S Implementation and Maintenance:

  • Sort (Seiri): Regularly review and categorize items, removing unnecessary tools and materials
  • Set in Order (Seiton): Organize tools and inventory for optimal efficiency and easy access
  • Shine (Seiso): Maintain cleanliness of the tool crib and inventory areas
  • Standardize (Seiketsu): Develop and implement standard procedures for tool/inventory management
  • Sustain (Shitsuke): Ensure ongoing adherence to 5S principles through training and audits

Equipment Maintenance and Safety:

  • Perform regular tool and equipment inspections for damage or wear
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance of tools and equipment
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining safety procedures for tool usage and storage
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies

Supply Chain and Logistics:

  • Restock supplies and order new tools and inventory items as needed
  • Coordinate with suppliers and logistics teams for efficient inventory management
  • Forecast inventory needs based on historical data and projected demand

Reporting and Continuous Improvement:

  • Generate reports on tool usage, inventory levels, and 5S compliance
  • Analyze inventory turnover rates and suggest improvements
  • Lead 5S audits and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to cost-saving measures through efficient inventory management and 5S practices


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in logistics or related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in inventory management, tool crib operations, or related field
  • Proficiency in inventory management software (SAP/Smart Sheet) and Microsoft Office suite (Excel)
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools, as well as general inventory management principles
  • Experience with 5S methodology and lean manufacturing principles
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment


Skills

  • Certification in 5S or other lean methodologies
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and ISO quality management systems
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices
  • Experience with data analysis and forecasting techniques
  • Proven track record of implementing and sustaining 5S initiatives
