Compensation: $140,000 - $150,000 base salary + annual bonus + comprehensive benefits
This role is ideal for a hands-on audit professional who thrives on operational audits and special projects and wants to make a visible impact on business performance, not just financial controls. You will partner directly with business unit leaders, executive management, and the Audit Committee to evaluate the effectiveness of operations, identify risk, and drive process improvement across the enterprise.
This is a high-visibility role reporting into a collaborative, business-focused Internal Audit department that values critical thinking, practical recommendations, and strong relationships with operational stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Lead and execute operational audits across business units, evaluating the efficiency, effectiveness, and control environment of key business processes.
- Plan, scope, and manage special projects and ad hoc investigations requested by executive management, the Audit Committee, or the Board, including fraud inquiries, process reviews, and pre-/post-acquisition due diligence.
- Develop risk-based audit plans and programs; execute fieldwork, identify control gaps, and formulate practical, value-added recommendations.
- Manage the full audit lifecycle: planning, fieldwork, workpaper review, report drafting, and follow-up on remediation of prior findings.
- Supervise, coach, and develop staff and senior auditors on engagements; review workpapers and ensure quality and compliance with department methodology and IIA standards.
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, IT, Legal, and Compliance to assess risks and controls related to key operational and business processes.
- Assist with SOX 404 compliance activities as needed, including scoping, testing, and coordination with external auditors.
- Present audit results and recommendations to senior management and, as needed, to the Audit Committee.
- Monitor emerging risks (operational, regulatory, technology, and business) and incorporate them into the audit universe and annual risk assessment.
- Travel domestically (up to 10%) to company locations/facilities to support operational audits and special projects.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 6+ years of progressive internal audit, public accounting, or related risk/compliance experience, including experience leading operational audits.
- Prior experience in a publicly traded company environment strongly , including familiarity with SOX 404 requirements.
- CPA or CIA certification strongly (or active pursuit of certification).
- Demonstrated experience managing special projects, investigations, or non-standard audit engagements in addition to traditional operational/financial audits.
- Strong understanding of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO) and IIA International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
- Proven ability to lead engagements and supervise/mentor staff auditors.
- Excellent analytical, project management, and communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to management and senior leadership.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple engagements simultaneously, and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Proficiency with audit management and data analytics tools (e.g., ACL, IDEA, Excel, Power BI, or similar) is a plus.
