Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer\n Salary: £30,000 - £45,000\n Location: Birmingham, UK (Hybrid working available)\n An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to join a progressive and environmentally focused building services consultancy. This role is ideal for someone with a few years of experience looking to expand their technical skills and take on more project responsibility within a supportive and collaborative team environment.\n About the Role:\n You will be involved in the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems across a range of projects, working under the guidance of senior engineers while also taking ownership of certain project elements. Key responsibilities will include:\n\nAssisting with the design of mechanical building services systems (HVAC, ventilation, heating, and cooling)\nProducing calculations, technical reports, specifications, and schedules\nSupporting thermal and energy modelling using industry software\nPreparing and reviewing technical drawings in collaboration with CAD/BIM teams\nLiaising with clients, contractors, and other design professionals\nEnsuring designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and sustainable design principles\nParticipating in site visits, surveys, and inspections during different project stages\nThis hybrid role allows a balance of office-based collaboration in Birmingham and flexible remote working.\n What We’re Looking For:\n\nExperience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy or similar environment\nKnowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical services, and sustainability-focused design\nFamiliarity with software such as Hevacomp, IES, or Revit\nStrong communication skills and the ability to work well within multidisciplinary teams\nA proactive approach with a willingness to take on increasing responsibility\nDegree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field\nWorking toward professional registration (IEng/CEng) is desirable\nIf you're ready to take the next step in your career as a mechanical design engineer and want to work in an environment that encourages growth and innovation, we’d love to hear from you
