Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group is seeking a self-driven temporary Interim Contracts Manager for an international digital advertising and marketing-focused organization’s legal department.


Overview: Our client is seeking a temporary Interim Contracts Manager to support its growing legal and business operations. This role is ideal for a legal professional with experience in high-growth, mission-driven environments—particularly those at the intersection of technology, media, and public affairs. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in contract negotiation, stakeholder collaboration, and legal infrastructure development, with a strong understanding of the digital advertising and communications landscape. This assignment is expected to last for an initial period of 3+ months, with the potential to extend or convert to a permanent role. The position is anticipated to be full-time, requiring a minimum of 32 to 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, SaaS agreements, vendor agreements, and licensing terms. Negotiate favorable terms related to pricing, timelines, deliverables, liabilities, penalties, and IP ownership/licensing.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster strong working relationships across legal, finance, client services, and business development. Bring a high EQ and collaborative approach to internal and external engagements.
  • Risk & Compliance Advisory: Interpret contract terms for clarity, completeness, and legal risk. Provide strategic guidance on liabilities, indemnities, IP ownership, and regulatory compliance—including export control regulations relevant to component procurement. Offer thoughtful legal positions to senior leadership, including the CEO.
  • Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM): Manage the full lifecycle of contracts using tools such as Ironclad or similar platforms. Maintain accurate metadata, track key dates, and oversee renewals, amendments, and enforcement. Contribute to the development of scalable infrastructure and internal advisory processes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to streamline contract workflows and improve turnaround times. Support the development of templates, playbooks, and training materials.
  • Legal Research & Policy Monitoring: Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Advise internal teams on potential impacts and proactively recommend contract revisions.
  • Contractual Compliance & Enforcement: Monitor for risks and liabilities relative to contractual terms and structure. Generate risk mitigation strategies and execute contract renewals and amendments as needed.


Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of legal experience, working in fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • Extensive experience with innovative companies where creativity is valued, particularly in the communications space
  • Familiarity with a variety of CLM platforms and document management best practices.
