Interconnect and Cable Architect

Overview



Expleo is a leading Global Engineering Services Provider with UK presence in 10 locations. We are seeking an experienced Interconnect and Cable Architect to work with our client, at Belfast. In this role the successful candidate will be expected to mentor and guide others in the design of interconnect and cabling solutions that deliver world-class performance. You will work alongside a team of multidisciplined Engineer working on cutting edge defence products. Your role will span the entire product lifecycle from design requirements capture and analysis through to defining the interconnect architecture and verifying that the solution meets the customer's requirements. The Interconnect and Cable Architect role requires working within the Electronics team to optimise the design through trade-studies, analyses, modelling and simulation to produce best-in-class competitive products.



We are looking for an energetic and driven individual with broad expertise, however of particular interest would be candidates with aerospace or military experience.

Responsibilities



The Interconnect and Cable Architect will perform, but not be limited to the following type of activities centred on the development and delivery of cutting-edge defence products:



Lead the development of interconnect and cabling architectures

Design cable assemblies based upon electrical constraints such as current, screening, signal types, volt drop, EMC, and environmental requirements

Lead connector selection and manage evaluation activities

Lead the creation of cable schematics and drawings

Support integration and testing of cable assemblies

Creation of cable specifications, development and verification plans

Responsible for compliance to regulatory standards

Contribute to bid and estimating activities



Qualifications



Degree level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline. A lower qualification would be acceptable for example HNC/HND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieu



Essential skills



Understanding of principles for design for LVD & EMC Compliance

Highly effective communicator within a diverse, professional environment

Self-motivated, able to lead and take the initiative

Outstanding team working skills



Experience



Post graduate relevant work experience

Experience in the design of cables considering electrical constraints such as current, screening, signal types, volt drop, and environmental requirements

Experience of interconnect design tools such as Capital Essentials, Zuken or EPLAN

Experience of mentoring and coaching others
