Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Engineer or Specialist III to support Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) and Fire & Gas (F&G) engineering across Alaska Capital Projects. This role is critical in ensuring designs meet both regulatory and company standards and align with Alaska Business Unit (AK BU) specifications. You’ll provide technical leadership and collaborate closely with engineering contractors, technical authorities, and project teams from concept through execution.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Duties

  • Support project engineering phases by ensuring compliance with all safety, regulatory, and design requirements.
  • Maintain alignment with project schedules and milestones to provide timely technical support.
  • Serve as daily technical contact for I&C discipline contractors.
  • Guide the development of I&C and F&G design premises for operability, safety, and alignment with existing facilities.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet all regulatory and AK BU specifications.
  • Provide engineering review of drawings, calculations, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure consistency and integration across all systems.
  • Participate in risk management, Management of Change (MOC), and Process Hazard Analyses (PHA).
  • Offer technical input during equipment procurement, vendor evaluations, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).

Secondary Duties

  • Actively participate in BU-wide I&C and F&G collaboration and training initiatives.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing networks and leverage learnings from industry best practices.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Instrumentation, Electrical, or related field)
  • 5+ years of I&C and F&G design experience in oil & gas or petrochemical sectors
  • Strong knowledge of relevant standards (ISA S84, NFPA 72, IEEE, ISA, UL, NEMA, ANSI)
  • Familiarity with safety instrumented systems and process safety requirements
  • Proven experience reviewing technical specifications, drawings, and calculations
  • Strong communication and cross-discipline collaboration skills


Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Alaska
  • Third-party SIS certification (ex: TÜV or equivalent)
  • Experience with Alaska-specific oil and gas regulatory frameworks
  • Hands-on involvement in Factory Acceptance Testing and procurement support
