I. SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Directly responsible for staffing the project with technically competent personnel as defined by the Project Manager. Provides technical direction and supervision to group members. They ensure technical and commercial quality in project deliverables-primary responsibility for overall task force performance on safety, quality, budget, and schedule.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures all team members are current with safety and other required training
- Assigns I& E personnel to the Project Teams as required under the agreed-upon scope, schedule, and budget
- Updates the I&E staffing plan
- Audits the work process and the quality of deliverables
- Responsible for the accomplishments and detailed supervision of all work performed by Team Members assigned from the I&E department
- Provides technical guidance in establishing the design criteria and conceptual design phase of the engineering work and ensures that the design personnel bases their work on the full knowledge and understanding of the client's needs, desires, preferences, and industry best practices
- Ensures all work products have been checked, reviewed, and approved and that the work meets the standards of engineering excellence
- Minimizes the effect of personnel shifts on a project by making such changes only as a final alternative for meeting other commitments and as approved by the Director of Projects only after ensuring that all other options have been considered
- Acts on all problems affecting the work being performed in the I&E Department that need attention to achieve their solution
- Ensures that all Team Members from the Department follow the policies and procedures established by POLARIS EPC, Inc.
- Recognizes team members' outstanding performance and active participation in lessons learned
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in Electrical Engineer
- Professionally Licensed Electrical Engineer
- 10+ years' experience in electrical and instrumentation design, preferably with an engineering and design firm
- 5+ years of engineering management experience
- Strong familiarity with Refinery Process Technologies
- Competent in leading and managing direct technical reports
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
- Technically competent in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering and Design Practices
- Available for short-term travel
IV. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:
Reports to the COO/CEO
V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift to 40 pounds at times
