Job Title: Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer
Location: Dallas, Texas
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on providing technical and design consulting services for instrumentation, control systems, and network infrastructure within the municipal water and wastewater industry. The I&C Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support the design, implementation, and operation of water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities.
Role Accountabilities:
Design and Development: Prepare technical documentation, including SCADA system architectures, communication and network designs, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), control schematics, panel layouts, and related design documents to support project objectives.
Collaboration: Partner with process, mechanical, electrical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration and execution of project deliverables.
Construction Phase Services: Provide engineering support during construction, including reviewing equipment and software submittals, responding to contractor requests for information (RFIs), and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
Field Oversight: Conduct field inspections, oversee construction activities, ensure adherence to safety standards, and manage quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes.
Testing and Commissioning: Support factory testing, site acceptance testing, and project startup activities to ensure successful system implementation.
Safety and Compliance: Develop and implement safety plans, mitigate risks, and ensure all designs and installations comply with industry standards and codes.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a closely related field.
Minimum of five years of experience in I&C, automation, and SCADA system design and implementation within the water and wastewater sector.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or be actively working toward their EIT certification - ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to travel up to 25% as required by project needs.Must have experience with consulting engineering firms
Skills and Attributes:
Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to self-manage, prioritize, and handle multiple assignments concurrently.
Experience applying instrumentation and controls to process and electromechanical equipment.
Proficiency in designing SCADA HMI and PLC hardware/software architectures and industrial network systems.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Revit ( but not required).
Qualifications:
Experience with PLC and HMI programming.
Expertise in designing communication networks for SCADA systems.
Knowledge of water and wastewater process control systems.
