YES, LLC. is a leading electrical and construction contractor serving the industrial, oil & gas, energy, and commercial sectors. With active projects across the Dakotas and Montana, we are known for delivering high-quality work, safely and efficiently.

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Instrumentation/Automation Technician to work on projects across North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana. The Instrumentation/Automation Technician supports operations by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automation systems and electrical controls. This hands-on role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from technical drawings, P&IDs, and process documentation

  • Build, wire, and install automation control panels

  • Configure and troubleshoot VFDs, PLCs, PACs, and related systems

  • Calibrate and maintain field instrumentation and control devices

  • Perform installation and troubleshooting of wiring for automated systems

  • Assist in system startups and respond to service calls

  • Provide clear updates to customers and internal teams

  • Maintain and update control software and PLC programs

  • Coordinate job planning with electricians and other team members

  • Install and integrate communication/network devices

  • Use test equipment to verify performance and diagnose issues

  • Support proposal preparation and job scheduling

  • Maintain customer relationships and represent the company professionally

  • Work safely and complete required safety documentation

  • Accurately estimate resources needed for tasks

  • Follow up on completed tasks and notify team of project status

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and electrical schematics

  • Hands-on experience with PLCs (e.g., Allen Bradley RSLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000)

  • Strong troubleshooting skills in automation and electrical systems

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and work in varied field conditions

  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and basic electrical codes

Qualifications

  • Technical certification or associate degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Technology, or related field

  • Experience with FactoryTalk or similar SCADA systems

  • Knowledge of NEC, API 500, and industrial safety regulations

  • Welding, fabrication, or carpentry experience

  • OSHA 10/30 or other job-specific safety certifications

  • H2S training (depending on customer site requirements)

  • Previous experience supporting field startups and commissioning
