Job description

Forbo Siegling is a manufacturer of conveyor belting. At our Kansas City, MO location. We are looking for a belt fabricator (cutting and preparing belts to finished dimensions from bulk roll stock). This involves cutting belts manually (with a knife/straight edge) and finishing with various machinery to prepare and/or splice the ends. The belts are then shipped to the customer via UPS or via freight carriers.

Perform fabrication of belts and provide back-up assistance for service when needed in the field.

Shop (90%):

Measuring, slitting, cutting, marking, grinding, splicing, using hand tools and light industrial equipment to fabricate custom conveyor belting to orders specific needs.

Follow work instructions and processes of specific fabrication techniques

Inspect/quality check finished products to ensure product meets Forbo quality standards.

Perform Shipping and Receiving of belts and related products to ensure on time delivery as needed.

Effectively communicate and cooperate with superiors and peers to achieve company goals and objectives.

Use forklift for fabrication, shipping and receiving need

Field Service(10):

Occasional installation and splicing of customers conveyor belt onsite, with the majority jobs not requiring but some including, potential overnight travel.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in installation or assembly within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Basic understanding of technical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Technical certification or vocational training related to fabrication or mechanical assembly.
  • Experience working in non-durable goods manufacturing or a similar industrial setting.
  • Capable of working at heights (primarily installations)
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Be able to pass a drug test
  • Must be able to lift 100lbs
  • Possible travel for installations after learning the business
  • Experience driving a forklift
  • Available for overtime, including weekends as necessary
  • Knowledge of workplace safety standards such as OSHA regulations.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform precise installation and assembly of fabricated components in accordance with technical drawings and specifications.
  • Operate and maintain hand and power tools, as well as fabrication machinery, to facilitate installation tasks.
  • Inspect installed parts to ensure alignment, fit, and finish meet quality standards and report any discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to resolve installation issues and improve processes.
  • Adhere strictly to safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Document installation activities and maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Assist in training new technicians on installation procedures and safety practices.

Skills:

The Installation Technician utilizes technical skills daily to interpret blueprints and schematics, ensuring components are installed correctly and efficiently. Proficiency with hand and power tools is essential for assembling and securing parts while maintaining safety standards. Problem-solving skills are applied when troubleshooting installation challenges or adjusting processes to meet quality requirements. Communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with engineers and team members to optimize workflow and resolve issues. Additionally, organizational skills are important for maintaining accurate records and ensuring a clean, safe work environment.
