Summary
The injection molding Process Technician responsibilities are to oversee all aspects of an injection molding process, including the process set-up, robotic operation, and tool effectiveness in order to execute the production schedule. The main duties are to prepare and produce injection-molded components to specifications defined by the process parameters and ensure part quality that meets customer expectations. Other responsibilities are to perform daily inspections, checklists and troubleshooting of injection molding machinery and robotic systems. When issues are discovered in the production process that vary from standard specifications, the process technician will troubleshoot these issues.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Achieve departmental goals minimized scrap, improve machine utilization expectations, leading to improved OEE (overall equipment effectiveness), etc.
- Transfer information daily to the following shift concerning all quality issues, changes in processes, or other tooling related issues
- Ensure parts are produced to appropriate quality levels
- Perform daily duties with accuracy and in a timely manner. This includes, but is not limited to press startups, quality checks, IQMS Real Time inputs, etc.
- Accurately and completely prepare all daily production-related documents in a timely manner
- Observe all safety rules and policies at all times, including properly wearing PPE (personal protective equipment)
- Provide continuous improvement and cost savings ideas relevant to injection molding or manufacturing assemblies
- Work with engineering to ensure that processes are robust and tooling are monitored for effectiveness
- Train employees on scientific molding techniques
- Report all recognized safety hazards
- Other duties as assigned in Managements sole discretion
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Knowledge and experience of plastics processing and equipment
- Strong mechanical/mathematical/leadership skills
- Advanced scientific injection molding skills required
- Ability to make independent judgments when Process Manager is absent
- Good written and oral communication skills computer literate
- Ability to work independently as well as with others
- Scientific Molding knowledge is , but not required
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work overtime when required by management
- Must have flexible working schedule to support molding operations
- Must be able to lift to 45 pounds
Required Licensing/Certifications
- Forklift Certification
