A day in this role
You arrive to a well-organized cell, review the schedule, and plan a die, , or material changeover. You lock out per Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), use a forklift or overhead crane to safely pull and set the mold, bring the injection molding press up, verify auxiliary equipment, and dial in parameters to hit cycle targets and part quality. When a defect shows, you troubleshoot, adjust, and document. Between runs, you validate the process, support a new mold trial with Engineering, and keep the area aligned to 5S standards.
What you will do
- Set up and adjust injection molding machines, tooling, and auxiliaries for efficient production.
- Execute die, , and material changeovers with complete documentation and team communication.
- Monitor and optimize molding processes to achieve consistent part quality and cycle efficiency.
- Troubleshoot molding defects, process deviations, and equipment issues to restore stability.
- Maintain detailed records of parameters, adjustments, test results, and troubleshooting steps.
- Operate a forklift and/or overhead crane to safely pull, change, and set molds.
- Partner with Engineering on new mold and material sampling; assist with machine testing and process validation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and sustain a clean, organized workspace using 5S.
- Apply knowledge of multiple plastic grades to meet customer expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you bring
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on knowledge of injection molding processes.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Understanding of Food Safety, GMP, PRP, and HACCP as they apply to food-contact packaging (where applicable).
- Familiarity with decoupled molding is .
Education and experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Experience level may vary based on skills and placement within the role.
Licenses and certifications
- Forklift Certification required (we provide in-house training).
- RJG training or certification .
Physical requirements
- Manufacturing environment that may be hot or cold; PPE required at all times (safety glasses, ear protection, etc.).
- Ability to lift and handle 45–55 pounds.
- Capability to work while standing or sitting as needed.
- Comfort working in tight or confined spaces.
