Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary
Serves as installation technician providing technical support in installing cabling (Copper, Coaxial and Fiber) as well as placing electronic chassis in their operation locations. Performs a variety of tasks including operating tools and equipment used for installation and testing cable and fiber optic networks.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive, inventory and prepare materials for staging and installation.
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates daily schedule of installations in conjunction with co-workers and customer.
- Assist in the installation and certification of fiber optic and/or copper transport technologies.
- Operates equipment including line scanners, line testers, optical scanners, voltmeters, microcomputers, and other test equipment as required to determine viability of installed cabling.
- Monitors and maintains documentation of material and supply inventories.
- Assist in the recommendation of improvement of communications networks installation procedures methods and controls.

Education & Experience Requirements
- 2 years of increasingly responsible installing and terminating network cabling system including twisted-pair coaxial and fiber optic cables
- Engineering & Installation (E&I) experience highly desirable
- Knowledge of STARS equipment desirable
Skill & Certification Requirements
- Climbing and Confined Space Certifications desirable
- Extensive Travel Required with overnight stay and work
- Heavy lifting of 40-80 lbs
- Position requires sitting, standing, and kneeling for long periods of time. (Heavy Work)
- Use of Power Tools Saws/Drills/ Hammer Tools
- Working with Hazardous Chemicals Fuels/Paints/Caulks/ Silicones/Oils
- Exposure to dust, allergens, cement, sunlight, loud noises at high decibels, high EMF, and various worksite aerosols and fumes
- Exposure to Shipping Materials, Foam/Plastics/ Wood/Cardboard
- Use of Cutting Instruments Blades/Banding Tools
- Climbing Up/Down Ladders and excessive climbing of stairs
- Use of Steel Toed Boots, hard hats, and other types of PPE
- Working on or in High Elevations or Roof Tops, in Trenches and Dark Environments
- Driving/Pulling Work Trailers
- Working with Electricity - Low Voltages
- Working in Confined Spaces Under Floors/ Man Holes / Closets / Under Ground
- Exposure to Various Metals Zinc/Copper/Steel/Brass/ Galvanized items
- Driving for Long Hours
