We are assisting our client, Cherry Optical, with the recruitment and selection of an Information Technology (IT) Manager. Cherry Optical is a dynamic, independent optical laboratory in Green Bay, WI with over 26 years of experience manufacturing high-quality prescription lenses for eye care professionals across the country. Cherry Optical is seeking a strategic and hands-on IT Manager to lead the continued evolution of its technology landscape. This individual will be responsible for facilitating the efficient and secure operation of information systems in alignment with business goals. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify and implement cost-effective, innovative technology and cybersecurity solutions. Additionally, this leader will oversee IT policies, procedures, and best practices that support the companys growth and innovation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and administers the organizations overall technology strategic initiatives and provides direction to achieve desired results.Works with technology partners and leadership to develop the IT strategic plan.
  • Maintains awareness of changing trends and regulations related to technology and cybersecurity, and impact of such.Research, evaluate and make recommendations for technology system projects and enhancements to equip the organization with a competitive advantage. Develop plans for the implementation of projects. In cooperation with the President/CEO, manages financial aspects of IT including budgeting, purchasing, and budget review.
  • Directly manages, coaches and develops direct report employees, including career development plans and systemic succession planning. Set goals and evaluate individual performance. Works with management team to build culture characterized by teamwork, high morale and retention of valued employees. Facilitates effective organization-wide communication. Regularly communicates policies and goals.
  • Leads the creation, maintenance, and enforcement of departmental policies, procedures, and security protocols. Oversees and delegates appropriately all aspects of technology support and maintenance.
  • Oversees vendor contracts for systems, hardware, software and related services.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes clear goals for employees that align with the organization's culture and core values.
  • Works with direct reports to set performance standards that are specific and measurable.
  • Provides specific performance feedback, positive and corrective.
  • Performs other tasks, as may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science and/or IT
  • 5-8 years of experience in all phases of technology operations, preferably in the manufacturing environment
  • At least two years of previous leadership related experience
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to lead, coach and develop others effectively
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize activities
  • The ability to work with confidential materials
  • The ability to contribute in a team environment, supporting the achievement of both individual and departmental goals
  • Desire and ability to abide by the organizations core values, as outlined in the strategic plan
