We're looking for a Facility Operations Technician to support our Electromagnetics (EMS) division in Herndon, VA. In this role, you'll help maintain and enhance operations by developing maintenance programs, inspecting and repairing equipment, and ensuring infrastructure and equipment perform at their best.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure all facilities run safely, efficiently, and support business needs.
  • \n

  • Act as the main point of contact between facility operations, project teams, and support departments.
  • \n

  • Identify facility-related issues before they become problems, and work with leadership to deliver practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • \n

  • Lead the planning and coordination of day-to-day operations, budgets, and schedules.
  • \n

  • Manage both routine and complex operations including building infrastructure and specialized equipment, systems, and components.
  • \n

  • Communicate across departments to balance operational needs with quality standards, timelines, and compliance.
  • \n

  • Improve processes and services to make the best use of resources.
  • \n

  • Review costs, productivity, and service methods to keep operations efficient and on target.
  • \n

  • Set up and manage service contracts, ensuring vendors meet performance expectations.
  • \n

  • Oversee space planning by analyzing how space is used and how it can be improved.
  • \n

  • Work closely with Procurement, EH&S, and other departments to align support services with operational needs.
  • \n

  • Coordinate with landlords and tenants on shared building matters.
  • \n

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • \n

  • Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • \n

  • Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • \n

  • Travel to Multiple Locations: Regularly traveling between various company locations using a personal vehicle.
  • \n

  • Mileage Tracking: Accurately tracking and submitting mileage for reimbursement according to company policy.
  • \n

\nAdditional Functions:

    \n
  • Writes Statements of Work (SOW) and works with Procurement to set up maintenance contracts.
  • \n

  • Manages vendors and tracks performance to ensure quality work.
  • \n

  • Handles badge requests, enforces security protocols, and supports vendors on-site.
  • \n

  • Performs general building maintenance as needed.
  • \n

  • May help operate and troubleshoot Direct Digital Controls (DDC).
  • \n

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • \n

Job Qualifications:

    \n
  • Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent, military class 'C' school or Military Occupation Specialty (MOS), and five or more years of progressive experience as an apprentice plumber or HVAC mechanic. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • \n

  • Must demonstrate considerable knowledge of construction industry mechanic concepts and regulations as well as plumbing and mechanical codes.
  • \n

\nMust possess:

    \n
  • Able to read and understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • \n

  • Strong organizational skills and able to prioritize daily tasks.
  • \n

  • Good at spotting and fixing routine issues with minimal guidance.
  • \n

  • Clear communicator-can document work and interact well with team members and supervisors.
  • \n

  • Comfortable with basic shop math.
  • \n

  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
  • \n

  • Physically able to climb ladders, lift 50+ lbs, and work safely at heights using lift equipment and PPE.
  • \n

  • Willing to learn and safely operate a variety of equipment.
  • \n

  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or MS Project is a plus.
  • \n

  • Reliable and punctual.
  • \n

  • Experience using SAP and CMMS systems is required.
  • \n

  • Familiarity with Trane TracerĀ® BAS is a strong plus.
  • \n

  • Secret Clearance required, TS .
  • \n

\nMust be customer focused and possess:

    \n
  • A valid Virginia driver's license with a good driving record verified by the DMV.
  • \n

  • EPA certification in refrigerant recovery.
  • \n

  • Strong analytical skills to use building automation systems to determine current status of operating equipment.
  • \n

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with all levels of employees, outside vendors and contractors.
  • \n

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report findings.
  • \n

  • The ability to resolve moderately complex issues that require evaluation and interpretation; and strong knowledge of computer operations and application pertinent to the field.
  • \n

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
  • \n

  • Two-year technical degree or trade school equivalent highly desirable.
  • \n
