Industrial Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on, versatile maintenance engineer looking to grow and expand their engineering capabilities. This role blends shop floor engagement with office-based engineering functions, directly supporting maintenance, troubleshooting, in-process quality assurance and machine implementation and improvement. The ideal candidate will bring practical manufacturing expertise and interdisciplinary skills to drive improvements across a wide variety of technologies and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support & Equipment Ownership
- Serve as the engineering point of contact for shop floor troubleshooting, collaborating with production personnel to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Oversee equipment performance, implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and lead root cause investigations for recurring issues.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical breakdowns in production machinery, ensuring swift equipment repairs to minimize downtime.
- Monitor and analyze equipment reliability data, downtime trends, and repair logs to recommend and implement sustainable solutions.
- Improve and document standard work procedures for machine operation, setup, and changeovers.
Process Engineering & Optimization
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for a variety of production technologies.
- Design or refine work cells, jigs, fixtures, and tooling to improve efficiency, safety, and product consistency.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques to meet or exceed shop performance.
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging hardware and software technologies.
- Monitor in-process and final product quality at work centers, identifying trends or deviations.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with office staff across design engineering, sales, purchasing, and production planning.
- Support capital project planning and execution, from justification and vendor sourcing to installation and commissioning.
- Participate in safety and ergonomics initiatives, ensuring new and existing processes prioritize worker safety.
Additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant hands-on manufacturing or process engineering experience OR a Technical Degree with 5 years of relevant experience in a technical manufacturing role.
- Experience in troubleshooting mechanical and electromechanical systems in a production environment.
- Experience with CAD software (Fusion 360, Inventor, or similar), and ERP systems (M1, or similar).
Required Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing systems and equipment maintenance principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Self-motivating with a sense of urgency
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
