Industrial Engineer – Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

Overview:
An established and growing manufacturer is seeking an Industrial Engineer to drive operational excellence and efficiency throughout its production facility. This is a hands-on role—spending roughly 85% of the time on the floor—partnering with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to enhance productivity, safety, and quality through data-driven process improvements and Lean manufacturing principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and optimize production workflows to reduce waste, downtime, and cost while improving quality and throughput.

  • Develop, standardize, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all departments.

  • Partner with maintenance and engineering to evaluate and implement equipment upgrades, modifications, and process automation.

  • Conduct time studies, root cause analyses, and workflow assessments to identify improvement opportunities.

  • Track and report on key performance metrics, providing actionable recommendations to leadership.

  • Support plant safety initiatives through ergonomic assessments and process evaluations.

  • Lead training and coaching sessions to ensure consistent SOP compliance and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Participate in capital projects—providing engineering insight, ROI analysis, and implementation support.

  • Collaborate with leadership to implement Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives across departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.

    • Equivalent experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment may be considered.

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in process, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.

  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and workflow optimization.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to influence across departments.

  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and safety best practices.
