About the Opportunity
A mission-driven nonprofit manufacturing and training hub in Midtown Detroit is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join its growing team. This is a newly created role, opened due to internal promotion, with direct mentorship and training provided. It’s an opportunity to apply engineering expertise in a setting that blends innovation, workforce development, and social impact.
What You’ll Do
- Learn and integrate into existing manufacturing systems and textile technologies
- continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste
- Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate processes and implement best practices
- Train alongside the outgoing Industrial Engineer to ensure a smooth transition
- Contribute to internal consulting efforts focused on sewing operations and manufacturing improvements
- Apply both hands-on skills and strategic engineering insights to optimize workflows
- Champion the organization’s mission of sustainability, education, and community impact
What You Bring
- 1-5 years of hands-on industrial engineering experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
- Experience in process improvement, lean manufacturing, or operations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance hands-on technical work with strategic thinking
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Passion for sustainability, training, and social impact work
