Ice Rink Operations Manager – $24+/hr| Relocation Assistance Available
Flight® Adventure Park – Irmo, South Carolina
Full-Time | 40–45 hrs/week | Nights, weekends & holidays required
Ready to lead the coolest team in town? Flight® Adventure Park is hiring an experienced Ice Rink Operations Manager to oversee our indoor ice skating experience—part of a high-energy adventure park that also features trampolines, bounce houses, and more.
What You’ll Do:
The Ice Rink Operations Manager at Flight® Irmo is responsible for overseeing all aspects of ice rink functionality, ensuring a consistently high-quality skating surface and safe, efficient operations. This role requires expertise in ice maintenance, resurfacing, and skate sharpening, as well as a strong understanding of refrigeration systems and rink equipment. The manager will lead and train part-time ice staff, manage inventory, and coordinate maintenance projects in partnership with the General Manager. A key focus is on safety, compliance with US Figure Skating’s SafeSport standards, and delivering an exceptional guest experience. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with technical proficiency, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage operations in a fast-paced, multi-attraction environment.
- Work with management and maintenance to keep a proper rink maintenance budget and to prioritize and facilitate attention to rink maintenance needs
- Monitor and manage overall rink and facility safety and cleanliness through managing by walking around
- Develop, train, and ensure standards are met with Zamboni Drivers and Team Members for sharpening skates
- Schedules ongoing rental skate sharpening and repairs
- Manage inventory of all ice related items. This includes but is not limited to the following: Ice Skates, laces, hockey tape, mouth guards, pucks, hockey nets/goals
- Regularly participates in management and company staff meetings
- Must be knowledgeable of US Figure Skating’s SafeSport Program and US Skating’s commitment to athlete safety rules and policies and ensure policies are communicated and practiced in all Rink Operations
- Oversees daily operation and maintenance of the ice rinks to ensure the highest quality ice surface on one ice rink; including, glass and dasher board maintenance, cleaning, edge work, ice thickness, quality control, general HVAC knowledge, and water treatment.
- Proven ability to operate ice resurfacers and conduct the necessary preventative maintenance.
- Responsible for ice surface installation and removal; including ice painting, in-ice logo installation.
- Work in partnership with the GM on general building maintenance and projects.
- train, motivate, and evaluate part time ice staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies
What You Bring:
- First-aid, CPR and AED certified
- Ability to lead a team; motivate and inspire
- Communicate clearly and effectively
- Strong presence and ability to influence/enforce proper behaviors
- Demonstrate sound decision-making skills based on fact not emotion
- Demonstrate maturity in all interactions
- Available to work nights, weekends and holidays
- Effectively communicate and meet with Arena Management at least once per week to discuss maintenance, and facility projects
- 3+ years’ experience in ice and facility operations.
- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment,
- Must show demonstrated knowledge of ice maintenance, ice resurface operations, supervisory skills, and experience in facility operations.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements.
- Knowledge of ice making, ice painting, and in-ice logo installation.
