Job Title: HVAC Service Technician
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $25 - $40 per hour based on experience
The Opportunity
As an HVAC Technician, you will have a deep understanding of HVAC systems, particularly in the context of starting up, servicing, and problem-solving. Mechanical Service Technicians are responsible for maintaining excellent customer relationships, maintaining expert knowledge on HVAC equipment, providing and maintaining quality workmanship and documentation, coordination of post-sale work, verifying safety standards are met, and issue resolution. This position will demonstrate excellent time management skills as well as excellent problem-solving capabilities. Your convenience and efficiency are paramount. Primary focus:
• Assist Service Manager(s) and Project Managers(s) with installation training when required.
• Work closely with Service Manager and Team Leads.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose building mechanical systems (including but not limited to: RTUs, split systems, VRFs, boilers, chillers, AHU and VAV).
• Capable of repairing and/or installing proposed diagnosis.
• Responsible for planning, layout and overall efficiency at project repair and/or installation.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Assist with Owner Training.
• Support Service Manager with warranty and non-warranty issue resolution.
• Manage onsite communication with customers and facility directors.
• Maintain a safe work environment.
• Assist in training apprentices.
• Occasionally assist with the startup or issue resolution with other mechanical and control product lines
• Consult with Service Manager or manufacturer support in times of uncertainty.
• Collaboration with project stakeholders to solve issues effectively and efficiently.
• Coordination with aftermarket project management, and service controller to ensure jobs remain on track and on schedule.
Key Qualifications & Education:
• A minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC servicing and maintenance, with a strong preference for candidates with a proven track record in the field.
• Possession of an EPA Type II certification, a mandatory qualification to ensure compliance and competence in refrigerant handling.• A strong mechanical aptitude and be comfortable working with HVAC systems.
• A strong ability to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and maintain HVAC equipment is crucial to our team's success.
• Proficient with computers, as this role may involve technology-based HVAC systems.
• Understands basic refrigeration cycle: Understand what super heat and subcooling shows in a refrigeration circuit, identifying components in refrigeration circuit, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot. Understands refrigeration recovery, evacuation, and proper charging of a system based off superheat and subcooling.
• Understands basic electron theory, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits, and series and parallel circuits. Ability to read basic wiring diagrams. Understanding Ohms Law. Ability to use multi-meters to read voltage, current and resistance values. Must be able to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits.
• Understands the process of conditioning air and simultaneously control its temperature, humidity, and distribution. Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings.
o Understands basic heating cycle to include identifying components in heating system, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the heating system using a gas pressure monometer and other devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot a gas fired unit.
o Understands the theory of combustion and how it relates to combustible fuels such as gas and oil. Understands a gas combustion analyzer and how to correct if the combustion isn't correct.

• A commitment to a standard 40-hour workweek, with a readiness to accommodate overtime, particularly during peak work seasons, to meet our clients' needs effectively.
• A requirement to be drug-free and capable of passing a background check, safeguarding our clients and maintaining a safe work environment.
• A valid driver's license is essential, as this role may involve travel to various job sites.
Physical Demands
The ability to perform physical tasks, such as sitting, standing, bending, and more, over extended periods of time, ensuring you meet the physical demands of the job. A capacity to lift and handle equipment weighing between 50 to 100 lbs., ensuring the safe and effective execution of maintenance and installation tasks.
