Position Summary
Regional The Vice President of Finance and Operations is a strategic leader responsible for the financial health and operational efficiency of the company. This role oversees finance, accounting, budgeting, cash flow, and procurement, while also driving operational performance across departments. The VP ensures alignment between financial planning and business operations to support sustainable growth and profitability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Financial Strategy & Oversight:
- Lead development of financial strategy, long-term forecasts, and risk management.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Lead all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end close.
- Oversee WIP reporting, contract billing, job costing, and revenue recognition.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax and financial reporting requirements.
- Direct internal controls, audits, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Partner with external accountants, auditors, and financial institutions.
- Maintain internal controls and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Operational Management:
- Oversee company operations including service delivery, procurement, inventory control, and logistics.
- Improve cross-functional workflows and ensure operational readiness for job start-up, execution, and close-out.
- Collaborate with field teams and project managers to ensure jobs remain on budget and schedule.
- Lead and manage administrative and operational staff across finance and field support functions.
- Develop and monitor KPIs across departments to drive performance and accountability.
Strategic Leadership:
- Serve as a key advisor to leadership team on company performance, financial risk, and growth planning.
- Assist with M&A integration, vendor negotiations, and capital planning.
- Develop scalable processes, systems, and reporting to support growth across multiple service lines or locations.
- Recommend and Implement technologies that will enhance financial performance and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s or MBA )
- Minimum 8–10 years of progressive leadership in finance and operations, preferably in construction, skilled trades, or service industries
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, cash flow analysis, and financial planning
- Experience managing field and back-office operations in a multi-division or multi-location company
- Proficiency in financial and business systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Viewpoint, NetSuite, FieldEdge)
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills
Qualifications
- CPA or CMA certification
- M&A or private equity experience
- Experience implementing or upgrading ERP systems
- Familiarity with WIP billing, job costing, and union/non-union labor structures
