The HVAC New Construction Estimator is a results-driven sales professional responsible for evaluating, pricing, and preparing competitive bids for HVAC construction projects ranging from $100,000 to $900,000. This role plays a key part in driving revenue growth by accurately analyzing project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop precise and profitable cost estimates. Success in this position requires deep technical expertise in HVAC systems, construction methods, and materials, combined with exceptional communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for residential HVAC systems, including new construction and large retrofit projects.
- Support the sales process by presenting estimates, discussing options, and negotiating final pricing with clients.
- Review architectural and mechanical plans to develop scope, material takeoffs, and cost analyses.
- Collaborate with general contractors, homeowners, and internal teams to clarify scope, design, and pricing details.
- Create and manage project proposals, budgets, and documentation.
- Utilize project management and estimating software such as Accubid, McCormick, and PlanSwift and Microsoft Office Suite to manage bids and track progress.
- Oversee awarded projects to ensure seamless handoff to the operations team and alignment with scope and budget.
- Maintain accurate records of bid documents, revisions, and correspondence.
- Stay current on HVAC design trends, local building codes, and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Two + years of experience in New Construction HVAC estimating.
- Three + years of hands-on or supervisory experience in residential HVAC systems.
- MUST have a strong understanding of HVAC design principles, load calculations, and system components.
- EPA Certification and OSHA Certification are highly .
- Proficiency in project management and estimating software such as Accubid, McCormick, and PlanSwift, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven experience working directly with general contractors and managing multiple bids simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and negotiation skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
