About the Role:

GMS is seeking a well-rounded HVAC Service Technician to support Baltimore City Schools. This is a full-time, permanent Union position with the Local 486 offering year-round stability, strong pay, and excellent benefits. We’re looking for a technician with broad skills who can confidently troubleshoot and repair a variety of systems.

Pay: 47.78/hr

Location: Baltimore Metro area

What you'll be doing:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide range of commercial and institutional HVAC systems, including boilers, burners, RTUs, pumps, air handlers, and walk-in coolers.
  • Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and warranty services.
  • Replace components or complete systems as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with service standards, safety protocols, and customer requirements.
  • Document all work performed and communicate effectively with clients and supervisors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you need to bring to the table:

  • 5+ years of HVAC service experience in commercial or institutional settings.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills across multiple system types (RTUs, pumps, AHUs, refrigeration equipment, etc.).
  • EPA Universal Certification (required).
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • OSHA 10 or higher .
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC service techniques and safety practices.
  • Must pass a drug screening.
  • Factory/OEM training (Trane, Aaon, Daikin, Liebert, etc.) .

Schedule:

  • 8-hour day shift (overtime as needed).
