About the Opportunity

Our client, a forward-thinking and industry-leading design firm, is seeking an experienced HVAC Engineering Manager to lead their Mechanical Engineering Department. This is a direct hire, hands-on leadership role overseeing projects from concept through construction while mentoring and developing a talented engineering team. The position is fully on-site to start, with the potential for remote flexibility once established.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary mechanical engineering team delivering projects across commercial, educational, healthcare, and multifamily sectors

  • Oversee system design, analysis, and project execution, ensuring quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction

  • Serve as a key liaison with clients, architects, contractors, and internal leadership

  • Manage project budgets, scopes, and schedules, adapting to evolving project needs

  • Provide mentorship and professional development for junior engineers

  • Contribute to strategic growth initiatives and continuous improvement within the department

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey or Pennsylvania (one required; ability to obtain the other )

  • 10+ years of HVAC/mechanical engineering experience, including team leadership and project management

  • Proven experience with commercial, educational, healthcare, and multifamily building projects

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, design tools (ArchiCAD, AutoCAD), and energy-efficient systems

  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills

  • Ability to work full-time on-site initially, with remote flexibility once the role is established

Qualifications

  • LEED accreditation (a plus)

  • Experience with fieldwork, punch lists, and quality assurance assessments

  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $110,000 – $135,000 per year (commensurate with experience and credentials)

  • Comprehensive benefits package available through the client
