Job Title: HVAC Engineer II (Industrial)
Location: Akron, Ohio
Reports To: Mechanical Department Manager
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Pay: $80,000–$95,000 (eligible for overtime over 40 hours)
Schedule: On-site with hybrid option

Position Overview
The HVAC Engineer II will play a key role in delivering industrial HVAC engineering and design solutions across a wide range of high-impact projects. This position requires hands-on experience in industrial environments such as chemical plants, manufacturing sites, or large warehouse facilities. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated engineer who can lead tasks, collaborate across disciplines, and perform both office and field design work.
This role focuses on HVAC system design, process ventilation, clean room and hazardous location pressurization, and related mechanical engineering activities. Experience with dust control, plumbing, or fire protection systems is highly valued but not required.
This position is hybrid, but remote-only candidates cannot be considered.
Key ResponsibilitiesHVAC Engineering & Design (Primary Focus)

Lead HVAC engineering tasks for assigned industrial projects.

Design HVAC systems for industrial facilities, process plants, and associated office spaces.

Develop ventilation and pressurization systems for hazardous or classified environments.

Perform heating and cooling load calculations; size and select appropriate equipment.

Evaluate existing building ventilation systems and propose design improvements.

Prepare HVAC equipment specifications and layout drawings.

Coordinate designs with other engineering disciplines and interface directly with clients.

Develop cost estimates for various project phases.

Conduct fieldwork, gather site data, develop field sketches, and verify design drawings.
Dust Control Engineering & Design (Highly Desirable)

Design dust collection systems for applications involving nuisance and combustible dust.

Prepare equipment specifications and create ductwork layouts.
Plumbing (Beneficial but Not Required)

Design potable water distribution, sanitary waste, stormwater, and process sewer systems.

Specify equipment such as tempered water systems, safety showers, and eyewash stations.
Fire Protection (Beneficial but Not Required)

Assess hazards and determine required fire protection coverage and density.

Develop coverage diagrams for fire protection contractors.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Minimum of 5 years of HVAC engineering and design experience; industrial experience strongly .

EIT certification required; actively pursuing PE licensure.

Working knowledge of mechanical codes and standards (NFPA, ASHRAE, OSHA).

Consulting engineering experience .

Experience with dust collection, plumbing, or fire protection systems is a plus.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit or Navisworks experience is a plus.

Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
