HVAC Controls Technician
Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced HVAC Controls Technician. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, installing, and repairing pneumatic and digital HVAC control systems. The technician will work on a variety of systems, ensuring that heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment is functioning properly to meet the needs of the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, maintain, repair, and install HVAC controls (including systems for fire detection, air quality, etc.) using specialized software and hardware tools. Identify system failures and perform repairs or escalate issues as needed.
- Calibrate and adjust HVAC control systems to improve performance or accommodate changes in building usage.
- Review and prioritize work orders, determine necessary supplies, and order materials using the organization’s purchase order system.
- Coordinate with on-site staff and other team members to ensure smooth project completion.
- Perform system installation and repairs according to blueprints and building codes (e.g., UBC). Work with HVAC ductwork, fittings, registers, venting, and pipe installations.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including setting up scaffolding and ensuring the disposal of waste materials and flammable substances according to safety standards.
- Provide cross-training in at least one other trade discipline and assist in emergency situations as needed.
- Participate in 24-hour on-call snow removal efforts.
- Respond to emergency situations 24/7.
- Under the supervision of a senior technician, may assist with training, mentoring, bidding on school projects, and inspecting contractor work to ensure it meets specifications and safety codes.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license that meets the organization's insurance requirements.
- Experience requirements vary by level:
- Level 1: At least 2 years of related experience.
- Level 2: At least 4 years of experience.
- Level 3: At least 10 years of journeyman experience, including one year of internal, specialized training.
- Must reside in Colorado or have a permanent address within the state while employed.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, with or without accommodations.
Compensation:
- A supportive work environment focused on equity, accountability, integrity, collaboration, and enjoyment.
- Competitive hourly wage ranging from $68k - $83k annually DOE
