About the Role
Automated Mechanical is looking for a motivated HVAC Apprentice to join our service team and build a career in commercial HVAC maintenance. This entry-level role is centered on preventative maintenance and service work, giving you hands-on experience alongside licensed technicians while you work toward your own certifications and license. It's a strong fit for someone eager to learn the trade from the ground up.
What You'll Do
- Assist licensed technicians with scheduled preventative maintenance on commercial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, split systems, chillers, boilers, and cooling towers
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as filter changes, coil cleaning, belt and pulley inspection, and lubrication of moving parts
- Help diagnose and troubleshoot routine service issues under direct supervision
- Learn to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals
- Support technicians during service calls, start-ups, and equipment inspections
- Keep accurate records of maintenance performed, parts used, and observations for the lead technician
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on every job site
- Follow all safety procedures, EPA guidelines, and company policies
- Transport tools, parts, and equipment to and from job sites as needed
- Attend company-provided training sessions and pursue progress toward HVAC certification
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Willingness to work toward EPA 608 Certification
- Basic mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn
- Comfortable working in mechanical rooms, on rooftops, and in confined spaces
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver's license in good standing
- Strong attendance and reliability
- Enrollment in or completion of a trade school or HVAC training program
- Prior experience in a mechanical, construction, or maintenance environment
- Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
