Human Resources Manager - Staffing and Compliance (Full-Time)

The Human Resources Manager – Staffing and Compliance develops and implements Human Resources activities for the organization. This role is directly responsible for selection, onboarding and offboarding, talent retention, policy implementation, the performance management process, and employee relations. This role closely collaborates with Division and Department leaders to ensure employee practices and workplace culture align with New Life’s core values: Christ-centered, purpose driven, community minded, others focused, and intentionally joyful.



Compliance and Risk Management

  • Maintain and update employee handbook content. Review changes with stakeholders on an annual basis.
  • Oversee employee relations and HR legal matters facing the ministry, including discrimination and harassment claims, and bring them to resolution.
  • Oversee investigations and responses to internal complaints while ensuring employee advocacy, confidentiality, and minimizing ministry risk.
  • Stay current on HR legal compliance related matters and implement as necessary.
  • Act as the primary contact for vendors that provide guidance to New Life on HR compliance related matters.

HR Strategy

  • Partner with department and division heads on the assessment, development, and implementation of short-term and long-term HR strategies and goals.
  • Partner with the division heads on HR programs and systems that support personnel needs.
  • Partner with division and departments heads on key change management initiatives, supporting successful implementation of change through thoughtful communication and actions that result in buy-in.

Performance Management and Employee Engagement

  • Collaborate with Division and Department leaders in the creation of performance review programs.
  • Assist leaders on HR issues including development, engagement, and performance and issues which could have the potential to impact organizational culture.
  • Implement the annual performance review cycle.
  • Partner with Division and Department Leaders on employee engagement efforts. Including opportunities for staff to connect with each other and deepen their relationship across the ministry.
  • Maintain employee files.

Selection and Staffing

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to create and revise job descriptions that effectively convey high performance expectations.
  • Collaborate with Division and Department leaders in workforce planning, ensuring talent aligns with needs and systematic effectiveness results.
  • Drive the staffing processes - recruitment, interviewing, hiring, on-boarding, retention and off-boarding.
  • Conduct new hire onboarding that ensures new employees positive welcomed and equipped with resources needed to be successful in their roles.
  • Conduct faculty contract renewal.
  • Conduct initial phone screens of candidates and move applications to hiring managers.
  • Partner with managers to ensure the required tasks listed in the onboarding and offboarding checklists of new and terming employees are completed prior to hire or termination effective dates.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate as a member of the Central Services management team.
  • Manage the entirety of the HR Staff.
  • Maintain and share employee data with internal departments as needed.



Requirements:


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Administration, or a related field


Experience

  • Three to five (3-5) years of progressive experience in all areas of Human Resources.
  • Past experience implementing HR practices compliant with current laws and regulations regarding employers’ and employees’ rights and obligations.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-PC or SHRM-SPC .

  • Confident, positive demeanor with ability to build trusting relationships with key stakeholders and employees.
  • Self-starter, with aptitude for implementing HR initiatives and proactively soliciting resources needed to carry initiatives to success.
  • Demonstrated business acumen – ability to navigate organizational systems, collaborate cross-functionally, and respond effectively to spoken and unspoken social cues with poise and professionalism.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with strong emphasis on interpersonal and professional communication ability.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, databases and Outlook.
  • A high degree of flexibility with aptitude to handle multiple priorities with pressing time constraints.
  • Genuine interest to align New Lifes’ mission and core values with operational practices.

Spiritual

  • Is able to effectively integrate the gospel-centered message into day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Proactively seeks ways to improve how the school and church presents itself from a Christian perspective.
  • Born again believer who exhibits the Fruit of the Spirit in their daily walk.
  • Regular attendee and supporter of a church whose fundamental beliefs are evangelical in nature.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with HR related software packages is a plus.
